By-Products

During processing there are a number of peanut by-products produced.

One of these main products are peanut shells, The shell content of peanuts can range from 18-40% depending on the variety and the season. However these days varieties are being bred to have lower shell content. Usually 1/3 of our production goes straight to shell.

Peanut shell is suitable for both stockfeed and garden mulch.

Peanut shells are sold and are available seasonally between April and December.

Another by-product of peanut processing is oil grade kernels and meal, which are small bits and chips of broken peanuts, available in bulk or 40kg bags. These are a good source of protein and high in energy. Peanut fines and meal is usually blended with other grains and fed to farming stock.

Peanut Oil

Is processed and bottled locally in the South Burnett using cold press techniques and Crumpton peanuts.

Peanut oil is a popular cooking oil because of its great nutty flavour but also because it is high in monounsaturated ‘good’ fat and low in saturated ‘bad’ fat, which is believed to help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol.

The oil is available for purchase in different sizes varying from 1000 litre bladders right down to small 375ml bottles for home use.
